Kalendar Winning Designs Posted

So, I finally got a small breather and was able to get the images online. I'll worry about cleaning it up a bit later, but for now at least you can view them.

The entries are posted on the demo site. You can access the gallery here.

Thanks again to Jason Durham and Mark Aplet!

Mark Aplet's Gravatar Super cool TJ! Thanks for the votes and and putting on the contest. IT was a lot of fun. The other design by Jason is pretty cool too :) Hopefully you will have time to put the skins into action soon. Congrats Jason!

Sebastiaan's Gravatar Hi, when can we expect a new version of Kalendar? The latest version on RIAForge is 9 months old...

TJ Downes's Gravatar There are a number of ways you can get a newer version of Kalendar:

1. Download from the SVN repository
2. Download the base code and develop your own version
3. Contract with us to develop the features and functionality you need
4. Wait for us to have the time, outside of paying projects, to finish our 1.0 version.

See, we have to pay bills, and Kalendar doesn't pay the bills :)

Sebastiaan's Gravatar Hi TJ, still wondering how thingz are for Kalendar ;-) Found any time in between paying projects to finalize a 1.0 version (with the skinz)? We're talking 15 months now since RC5 was released. In the meantime I was able to take the Kinky Clandar System offered by Ben nadel and develop it to a rather kewl calendar system, deployed into our CMS and now used in a couple of websites as an agenda, a reservation system and likewise. it's skinnable, configurable, languageable (is that a word - anyways, you can add a translation file, which also covers the LSDateFormat and LSTimeFormat issues per language). I'm not sure if I can repost it on RiaForge as a calendar system on it's own - it is Ben Nadel's baby - but it might be an idea ;-)

There has been a lot of work done to Kalendar over the past 15 months, including a full i18n implementation and the skinning engine.

The code, however, is not ready for release, and it may be some time before it is. I'm not really motivated to make a new release, considering the lack of community involvement and the support demands I've had. So far the OSS model has done nothing but add more unpaid work to my list.

Sebastiaan's Gravatar TJ, what is needed from others (i.e. community involvement) to be able to make a release of Kalendar (or at least a RC)?

There are a number of things. I will sit down tomorrow (2/21/09) and create a list and post that list to the Google Code site task list. I will also commit the latest code base. I would be willing to commit 4 hours a week to getting the release ready if others were also willing to take on features.

TJ Downes's Gravatar Still getting this list together. Bigger than I expected! I should have this ready by tomorrow
